·         Researching Chinese Islamic and Greek cultures.

·         Creating a design based on these cultures

·         Color theory

·         Three techniques of tie dyeing; stripes, spiral and polka dots

·         Three hand embroidery stitches; running stitch, back stitch and satin stitch

·         Using a sewing machine for decorative embroidery

 

 

ASSESSMENTS

 

Making samples using;

·         Beading / buttons using knot stitching

·         Making an applique sample using a range of fabrics and different machine stitches

·         Quilting different fabrics on a sample piece and on their pillow

ASSESSMENTS

 

·         Shading/ombre using felting relevant to their design

·         Adding a zip using a zipper foot on the machine

·         Making the pillow using straight edging

 

 

How we support learning:

 

·     Each student is given individual attention times which vary according to each student’s ability and understanding of the topic she is studying.

·     Students are always welcomed outside of the classroom as necessary.

·     Lower ability students have teacher support where necessary.

·     Students vary with their ability and are encouraged individually to extend their knowledge according to their level, to produce work of a higher standard.
