Sixth Form Life

Whilst our Sixth Form is fully integrated into the rest of the school and intentionally so; Sixth Form life is different to that experienced lower down the school. Our students choose to be here and to specialise in subjects that they wish to pursue. Alongside their academic or vocational subjects, students enjoy a broad Jewish Studies programme. In the Sixth Form, students are encouraged to take more responsibility for their own work, reading widely, completing investigations and coursework and meeting deadlines, all of which help them prepare for their future lives. Our Sixth Form teachers are highly specialised and offer bespoke support. Teachers regularly review student work and offer extensive feedback and guidance on how to improve. Our Sixth Form students play an important role in helping staff, supporting extra-curricular activities particularly with the running of the much-anticipated annual school show which incorporates Years 7-10 in their entirety. Our Sixth Formers run activities for the younger students at lunchtimes, organise tzedokoh activities and help to run the Yr. 9 walking tour and other student activities. Our Sixth Form students are encouraged to broaden their studies with extra-curricular pursuits and opportunities for students to develop new skills are built into the curriculum wherever possible. A weekly oratory class led by senior leaders afford our students the opportunity to gain in self-confidence whilst building public speaking skills which prepares them for their future careers and develops their leadership potential. As a school we facilitate and signpost our students towards outsides organisations where they can hone further skills, particularly in leadership and where they build the foundations of chesed and volunteering in organisations such as Kef, Camp Simcha, and Gift. Sixth Form students have their own bespoke uniform, which seeks to imbue the school’s ethos whilst preparing them to dress contextually appropriately when they seek future employment. Our spacious and comfortable Sixth Form Common Room provides a relaxing and calm social space for students to spend time together, eat and generally enjoy each other’s company. It provides opportunity for Yr. 12 and Yr. 13 students to integrate and get to know and appreciate each other as well as learn how to share space with others.

Our Sixth Form Student’s well-being is a top priority and we have a strong Sixth Form team in place to offer support and guidance. Our Head of Sixth Form looks after all things academic and is a listening ear for girls who require additional support, intervention or require an advocate to liaise with individual teachers or departments. Our Pastoral lead oversees the Sixth Form tutors and ensures that the girls know that there are staff available to support them pastorally whenever they require it. One to One meetings take place to ensure that all students have access to support and have the opportunity to discuss anything that concerns them
