How we assess students’ understanding in the classroom:

  • Active Learning. We incorporate activities in lessons that require students to actively engage with the material, such as discussions, debates and group work
  • Inquiry Based Learning. We encourage students to ask questions and analyse results to foster a deeper understanding of the research.
  • Formative Assessment. We have regular exam style assessments to monitor students progress and provide feedback. These help students to pace their revision as well as identify areas for improvement for each student.
  • Collaborative Learning. We facilitate group activities that require students to work together. Promoting teamwork and communication skills.
  • Real World Application. We connect psychological concepts to current events and everyday life. Discuss how psychological principles apply to various fields such as health, education and social issues.

How we support learning:

  • Scaffolded Learning. We provide structured support for students as they develop new skills and knowledge. This is particularly focused on extended answer writing and exam questions.
  • Personalised Feedback and Support. We provide timely and constructive feedback on students work. We offer additional support and resources for students who may be struggling.
  • Exam Preparation. We prepare students for exams by practicing past papers, discussing exam techniques and providing tips for revision. Ensuring our students are familiar with the format and expectation of their A Level is crucial preparation.
  • Differentiated Instruction. We tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

How parents can support learning:

  • Time Management – structuring time for homework and revision
  • Ensuring your children have the means to organise and file their work
  • Take an interest in your child’s learning and discuss individual feedback received
