Independent Project

TERM 1

TERM 2

  •  Logo Design in illustrator
  •  Introduction of Independent project
  •  Market Research & Target Audience
    •  -Research competing brands
    •  Collect some images of the competing brands colour   scheme,  branding, website etc
    •  Summarise what works and/or doesn’t work for each one
    •  Based on your research, identify your target audience

 Client questionnaire & Brand Vision

  •  Ask client to answer the questionnaire
  •  Based on the questionnaire, identify the Brands Purpose,   Vision, Mission and Values.  Make sure your client is on board   with this.
  • Recheck that the target audience that you identified is in line   with that of your client

 Design Plan, Colour Palette & Typography

  •  Identify a colour palette that is in line with your brand’s   identity and values. Take not of the Hex codes of your colour palette
  • Identify the Typography that you will use for the this brand

 Basic sketches, Logo drawing & refinements

  •  Being with basic sketches of what you envision for your logo   (hand or digitally sketched)
  •  Design and draw your logo on illustrator
  •  Refine the logo until it is completed and ready for the client to   review

 Complete logo & create branding guidelines

  •  Once client has given approval for the logo, export PNG, JPEG   and PDF version of the logo
  •  Create your branding guidelines including colour palette,   typography and all logo versions

 Website Landing Page

  •  Begin by researching other websites and decide on what  you will include on your website
  •  Sketch out what you will include in your website and   plan the layout
  •  Create a digital wireframe of your website

 Business Card and Letterhead

  •  With your branding guidelines design a letterhead and   business card

 Mock-ups

  •  Create mock-ups for your brand (including store   signs, shopping bags, food packaging etc)

 Marketing Materials

  •  Produce a marketing campaign for this brand with a   series of at least 4 adverts related to the campaign

Put project together Evaluation

  • Complete project and put all parts of the project together ready for   submission.
  •  Complete evaluation
  •  Display branding guidelines, website landing page,   mock-ups, business card, letterhead in a portfolio ready   for client.

 Proofing and Printing  – 18 March 2025

  •  Proof all parts of the project
  •  Print the project notes and progress and the client   portfolio

 Project Submission -  3 April

Assessment

  • Learners will receive constant feedback from teacher as they progress at each stage of their project.
  • Peer feedback will be encouraged to allow students to gain experience in dealing with client feedback
  • Project will be graded on completion by teacher and Mrs Abrahams. Learners will receive certificates with their grade

How we support learning:

  • Verbal feedback on all assessments including targets for improvement
  • Online Feedback from “In-app” testing allows pupils to identify and recognise their weak points and work to improve them.
  • Providing more detailed written guidance for lower ability students
  • Offering individual teacher support in the classroom as required
  • Provide personalised support outside the classroom as necessary

How parents can support learning:

  • Provide access to personal computer at home with appropriate software
  • Encourage computer use at home
  • Support homework activities for other subjects using computer
  • Encourage learners to discuss their chosen project and see it at each stage of the design process
