Informal Education

Informal Education at Menorah High School (Years 7-13)

At Menorah High, we believe that enrichment is a vital part of our curriculum, enhancing students' academic and personal growth. Our comprehensive programme offers a wide range of stimulating activities that unite the school as a whole, while also fostering a sense of community within individual year groups.

Mixed-age activities play a key role in our programme, encouraging communication, collaboration, and friendships across year groups. This approach not only helps to nurture healthy relationships but also promotes a lifelong love of learning.

The school ethos around inclusivity is reflected in all informal education activities, and programmes are designed with inclusivity at the forefront so that all students with or without SEND are able to be involved and to benefit.

Below is an overview of the exciting opportunities we offer:

Informal Education Activities 2024

Rosh Chodesh
At the beginning of each Jewish month, we celebrate Rosh Chodesh with a meaningful programme. A special prayer, led by the school choir, is followed by breakfast and dancing. Each month introduces a themed initiative, such as a Shabbos programme, technology awareness, or “Guard Your Tongue” to promote kindness, mindfulness, and mutual care among students.

Yom Tov Celebrations
We celebrate every Jewish holiday with unique activities that highlight the essence of each festival. These celebrations allow students to engage deeply with the beauty and meaning of Jewish traditions.

School Show

The annual school play, held during the Winter term, is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year. It offers students a platform to showcase their creativity, confidence, and teamwork. Featuring a captivating storyline, the play highlights the talents of students with a flair for drama, bringing the performance to life in the most memorable way.

The production includes choirs, dances, musicals, an awe-inspiring gym dance, and a live orchestra—arranged and performed entirely by the students. Beyond the stage, students contribute by designing and creating props, sewing costumes, managing digital graphics, and handling all the behind-the-scenes elements needed for a production of this scale. Every student has a role to play, ensuring that each one has a chance to shine, making it a true highlight of the school year.

Additionally, musical performances and presentations are thoughtfully integrated throughout the academic year, enriching meaningful moments and celebrating the students’ diverse talents.

Our informal education programme provides students with a wealth of opportunities to grow academically, socially, and spiritually, ensuring they leave Menorah High equipped with confidence, skills, and cherished memories.
